Hocus Focus.

For a problem focus on a solution.
For a direction focus on the path.
For clarity focus on what you don’t see.
For answers focus and listen openly.
For a result focus on actions.
For happiness focus on your haves.
For fears focus on reality.
For a human focus on humanity.

This life will happen anyway,
I better focus only on today.
For yesterday has left me alive,
Tomorrow might not be so kind.
If I could keep this in mind,
I’d be focused on making a good time.
Sounds like magic like this rhyme.
Did work for me the times I tried.

It is our home.

I do not know why but this word, planet, kind of tickles me in some way. I do not think that it is a joke but I do think that we are making a joke out of it. In school and even to some extent in college I had a subject called environment studies/sciences. They teach you a lot about the planet, the environment, the nature, the life, the harmony between everything with a special focus on resources that are depleting and major disasters, natural or man made, that wrecked havoc where they struck.

We are taught so much of so much in school. Let’s consider a popular subject mathematics, we all know very well that not all of it used in normal life, in my opinion nothing more than the logical aspect of calculations is of any use in daily life of a common man. But they teach us calculus, trigonometry and circles and squares and something called a parallelogram and in all honestly I never had to find the area or perimeter of any such shapes in my life so far except in examinations, which some how were supposed to judge my intelligence and what not. What is this education about?

I am aware that it is very useful even with its compulsions and errors it has helped all of us, but what is the point of making us a part of a learned society if all that we are good at is learning and then fending for ourselves and ending up only consuming and not realising that we have won the survival game now we better sustain it.

Although the onus of taking planet’s care falls on every consumer only education can bring the awareness. But then again they teach “save water, save life” in theory with no practicals. You can not teach someone environment. You can not teach it, you can teach about it and that gets so technical we lose the essence of it.

A planet is a planet. It is a piece of rock in this solar system, ours is pretty colourful though, but it is just a rock with dirt soil (to walk on) and a perfect ozone-blanket (protecting us). And just happens to contain the perfect mixture of gases with oxygen how wonderful! That is exactly what we need.

It has a green cover that moves the blue/clear cover (water), distributes it better than any man-made system in turn allowing other flora and fauna to flourish, some of which becomes food and a lot of it gets used up in various ways resulting in a lot of waste, but with a clear glass of chilled water on a sunny day inside an air conditioned room it is easy to forget that this is not just a planet it is our home. Like every home we need to acknowledge what comes in, what goes out, how much of what gets used, and who contributes back to this bigger home.

Translation : The world is one family.
So I guess it is apt to call the planet earth a big home and a side note…. It is not flat LOL.

P.S. Keeping with the tone of this post click — Rally For Rivers — for more info about this huge initiative to revive dying rivers in India.

Are we mighty?

Words, they are taken for granted sometimes. Anyone who pays even a little bit of attention to what they are feeding their mind or picking up from their surroundings in the form of sounds (that carry meaning) will definitely take care of the words that they utter themselves. Clearly, actions have repercussions and speech is an action too.

Words are sounds, everything is sound and when we attach meanings we call it a language or a code, music or noise etc. as we see fit. There is so much research going in the field of sound and vibrations, frequencies and their effects but the clutter in our minds kind of renders us insensitive to all of it. So much that we tend to consume more than we should and spread even the undigested.

Anything that is new will soon be a norm and then probably a habit, but what we lose in this process is the ability to choose, in the sense that, either we get used to things or we abuse them. Either way if we lose the ability to choose then who is mighty, the thing or the being?

Then there is that angle of verbal and non verbal cues playing in-sync to deliver more than what is being said which clearly makes language just another tool at the disposal of the user. So who is mighty now? It was always the meaning not the word!

And the whole idea of immense power is not only comparative in nature but also subjective to context. So, whatever gets deemed as high and mighty without clear context or actual basis for comparison can be be dangerous.

We need not fight over right or wrong. The freedom to make choices is what we should never lose. The pen is not necessarily mightier than sword, and when it comes down to being powerful just on their own neither pen nor sword is powerful. They are, in fact, just tools like the words that are brought to life with meanings that we give or attach to them. This kind of makes us mighty and that means we better be responsible and careful with what we bring to life.

P.S. Words and sword are the same letters slightly rearranged and that is awesome! Need I say more.

What makes you glorious.

What makes me,
That I dare not lose.
All of what I hold dear.
I’d keep it near,
But it’s not mine to choose.
The transition happens.
One could be unaware.
Life that was out and about.
Lives more intensely…
Inside the mind’s wall.
Living and laughing…
Has to be arranged.
Imagining distant future,
Somewhere, somehow
A “better” day.
Mind is capable of that trick.
Do not get addicted to it.
Stare into the void,
Giggle at the craziest noise.
Cry for any reason.
Laugh every season.
I think it is worthwhile
Don’t take it lightly.
It is not just a smile,
It makes us glorious.

Made up penchant.

A scene so perfect.
It seems surreal.
This shining light,
The warmth I feel is real.
This is suffocating.
Like there’s air no more.
Those loud sounds I hear.
They come from far away.
I do not know.
Your whispers in my ears.
I can’t comprehend.
Am I paralysed?
Is this a dream?
Why can I sense it?
Like I am only audience.
It is my scene…
And I am nowhere.
Where are my lines?
What are my lines?
This can’t be reality!
…. And it is not.
It is my habit taking over.
This constant battle…
The past has scarred.
The future only scares.
But I like to live it,
I live it in my head.
The pain that is not actual.
I make it up very well.

Why obey?

The times are such that everything is seen in a different light. Either it is a shift in perspective or it is something that we unconsciously have called upon ourselves. Think words that begin with “new age”. We are referring to things as new age, but are they really? Well, this is a huge topic that a millennial could rant about, but I am going to stick to obedience in this one.

So I have noticed that, you could ask someone to do any sort of thing if you use love and it won’t be seen as using any force or wrong means. Love is not unfair at least seemingly it is not. Although, that does count as manipulation, which is bad on an entirely different level, but it is not physically harmful – Right? Love works in many ways.

People are making up notions after notions and more the beliefs the farther we move from reality. For instance there are people who think that authority means respect and obedience must automatically come to them – oh, the dilemma of many a managers people these days.

It all begins with using someone who is needy or manipulating people for their simplicity and soon enough drunk with power authorities mistake this submission for obedience. See there is that change in perspective.

Sooner or later one person comes along who is not scared enough, scared but not enough, who is not easy to control, and they simply disobey which shakes the very foundation of so called powerful people which in turn can make them violent.

It is easy to feel invincible, specially around someone submissive but this same sense of dominance and this approach has seen silent revolutions overthrowing many a powerful authorities in the past. And here we are again sort of repeating it or ignoring it. You and I are one or the other – stuck in it, too afraid to make a move or overlooking it because why get involved.

There are so many things that could make us fearful, when we are pushed enough we finally break and hell breaks loose too but why wait that long. Fear is just another mental reaction. Hard to overcome but not impossible and no one is alone anyway. So disobey!

One’s qualities make people fond of them and then they follow and that is loyalty, that is obedience. Obey only when presented with humanity not even love. You see love is just another tool – some use it well and others use it very well – selfless and selfish, we got both types so be careful.

Critical critique.

A moment ago,
It was too soon.
A moment later,
It’ll be too late.
I know it very well
Always the same bait.
But as someone said,
Be late than never!
I think I’m in this rut
Sort of stuck forever!
Critical as my critique is.
I could make it every time.
If it wasn’t for a habit.
Well…
See you at the deadline.

That one habit we all have, take it casually until the clock strikes 12 at midnight!
