It is our home.

I do not know why but this word, planet, kind of tickles me in some way. I do not think that it is a joke but I do think that we are making a joke out of it. In school and even to some extent in college I had a subject called environment studies/sciences. They teach you a lot about the planet, the environment, the nature, the life, the harmony between everything with a special focus on resources that are depleting and major disasters, natural or man made, that wrecked havoc where they struck.

We are taught so much of so much in school. Let’s consider a popular subject mathematics, we all know very well that not all of it used in normal life, in my opinion nothing more than the logical aspect of calculations is of any use in daily life of a common man. But they teach us calculus, trigonometry and circles and squares and something called a parallelogram and in all honestly I never had to find the area or perimeter of any such shapes in my life so far except in examinations, which some how were supposed to judge my intelligence and what not. What is this education about?

I am aware that it is very useful even with its compulsions and errors it has helped all of us, but what is the point of making us a part of a learned society if all that we are good at is learning and then fending for ourselves and ending up only consuming and not realising that we have won the survival game now we better sustain it.

Although the onus of taking planet’s care falls on every consumer only education can bring the awareness. But then again they teach “save water, save life” in theory with no practicals. You can not teach someone environment. You can not teach it, you can teach about it and that gets so technical we lose the essence of it.

A planet is a planet. It is a piece of rock in this solar system, ours is pretty colourful though, but it is just a rock with dirt soil (to walk on) and a perfect ozone-blanket (protecting us). And just happens to contain the perfect mixture of gases with oxygen how wonderful! That is exactly what we need.

It has a green cover that moves the blue/clear cover (water), distributes it better than any man-made system in turn allowing other flora and fauna to flourish, some of which becomes food and a lot of it gets used up in various ways resulting in a lot of waste, but with a clear glass of chilled water on a sunny day inside an air conditioned room it is easy to forget that this is not just a planet it is our home. Like every home we need to acknowledge what comes in, what goes out, how much of what gets used, and who contributes back to this bigger home.

Vasudev Kutumbakam (sanskrit)
Translation : The world is one family.
So I guess it is apt to call the planet earth a big home and a side note…. It is not flat LOL.

P.S. Keeping with the tone of this post click — Rally For Rivers — for more info about this huge initiative to revive dying rivers in India.

This is one of my most favourite pictures that I have ever clicked. I am in love with the colours, the sun hiding in the background. Gosh, it is almost a love affair! haha

On that note with all that is going on, detonate is the prompt you choose wordpress? Let me spread some positivity by sharing this picture. Remember guys as much water will help this beauty spread, fire will only burn it down to ashes. No more burning words or actions. Do not detonate it, beautify it!

Blurred memories or visions or dreams do not necessarily mean they are just a figment of our imagination, for what is created by our mind comes either from our sub-conscious or the conscious itself.

Whichever it may be, we need to pick it up from an external source or an existing one. Also, our consciousness does not create out-of-nothing, it merely brings things or ideas up or distorts them enough to make it super-confusing or as I would like call it “alien like”.  If you know what I mean.

As I see it life is filled with series of developments instead of random creations and as energy is never created nor destroyed but simply passed down, same happens with our thoughts they flow thus creating a foundation for future thoughts and over all a behavioural pattern which eventually affects our actions that gradually makes up what we call destiny. I find this mind blowing.

So while you ponder up on that, enjoy this blurry picture of a sunrise. It is just a blur but it is real! Moving vehicles can not stop me from taking pictures.

Blurry Sunrise – It is not as good but it is a sunrise after all and they are always beautiful.

With love.

2017 – 37/365

Well the Earthquake was not lovely at all. Gosh we have too many of them. The shaking of the earth, the shock, the running out of the house, the chaos that ensues – phew. Each time I am reminded of the fact that, this life is so so short man I must get my head out of the unnecessary and focus on what really matters. Can not stress that enough.

On the not so angry side of the earth, I got to click this lovely view. I took this picture very lovingly because my love for nature is pretty much borderline obsessive but what is love without obsession, right? No.. just me…? okay .

Enjoy the sunset-sky and a winter-tree.

Lighting ❤

Take me home

I am not feeling too well today and I want to be in my room in my home town. And it should rain. Oh, yes rain with the fog covering the opposite hills and washing everything back to clean and green, water everywhere.

The fresh air and the loud thunderclap. Breathing it in. The petrichor makes me so happy. The crazy winds, the whooshing sound, and everybody running to get their cattles back to the sheds, running to fetch their clothes hanging for line-drying and people trying to find some cover.

All the chaos that ensues because the winds are determined to take something with that force. Scared animals hiding in their burrows. It pours!

The streams that were dry these past months flow again, the muddy water crashes on the boulders, those rocks so adamant singing along with the waters gushing through them and over them, flowing so fast.

And then it all stands still.

Everything and everyone soaking the silence in. The people brought together; strangers under same sheds, friends at tea stalls, and families in their houses chatting up, enjoying the down pour.

The birds chirp again and silence is broken. Everything comes back to life. There is no hustle no bustle today but the stillness surrounding the hills envelopes my soul in peace taking me there where I have not been in a while, with the reminiscent plop, plop, plop left behind.

A little more…

To want something is quite natural. Although, what we feel and define as a need should be accurate, not everyone is aware of when they cross that thin line between the two and get all feelings confused.

Freedom in its very essence is a “need”, but the need to fly is a “want”. Humans can fly physically and emotionally; it could be achieved, but only by having a strong desire to do so. A craving, is it a need or just a habitual want?

Everyone craves freedom, actually rephrasing it…. Every one needs freedom. With “needs” there is no desire for more. On the other hand with wants the desire is endless. Wants are addictive and needs are prerequisites.

“I have all my needs sorted out, now I can begin my expedition. Oh, wait I need this as well. Got it! But what if I would want that too?”

That is how it begins and I end up feeling like I want a little more. Always a little more…

Lately, I have been craving  for open skies and green lands. I long for a visit to home town. I yearn for a glimpse of real nature. And with a strong desire you get what you want. If not the exact ‘same’thing – ‘some’thing!

I took this while at a metro station. Honestly, far away from the city’s hustle, bustle only the skies are untouched. Now here is a view that’d capture all your attention, and bring a smile on your face.

Do you see a hidden UFO? Oh, just me?…… okay! Who really knows what is going on behind that white blanket?!? How splendid!

There is No place like home – your own place, your sanctuary. Lets stop the felling of trees and exploitation of natural resources so that our fellow earthlings. Can I call them that? I mean that way animals can live happily too.

Imagine one day the trees enter our homes and take all our furniture because, we took it form them in the first place and that too without asking. One thing industrialisation brings is the pollution and it is the worst. Is it worth the development? Should it even be termed development if it is not sustainable?

But there are pristine places far away from the chaos of cities, chaos is bearable, the pollution is just deadly.

This is the most favourite shot of mine. I mean look at that tree. It just called to me.             Let it talk to you too. Oh the blue sky and the silhouette – just wow!

Above the clouds it is clearer!

Just some shots I took from a moving vehicle while I was going to my cousins wedding. Hometown… Oh, how I miss it 🙂

Like Glass!

It is sort of like glass just be careful unlike glass the reflections in this one can get distorted. Do you see yourself or someone you pretend to be? At least reflections won’t lie.

Just a lovely shot from my walk with me friends at a beautiful lake during sunset. Occasion – party for the new job. Hope this one becomes not just a learning but also an experience that gives me exposure. Anyway what a view 🙂

One of the best states to be in is Full Consciousness. In this state of self-awareness just about everything is deeper and slower because you comprehend more that what meets the eye. And rather than being a tiring state it is actually a freeing one that makes us more patient than our past-selves.

Thinking is not our duty, comprehending is… The more we understand, the better we know and the best we respond. And instead of being in the confusing – what about this/what about that – mode we would actually be in a clear state of mind.

Games is not what our brain wants to play, it just wants to be playful not a player. Players are on this side and the playful ones on the other side (of the picture). Liberated!!

Rain and storms – summer treats 🙂

There is a huge difference in planning/thinking of dancing in the rain and in actually being out there.

Three Coins in the Fountain: Have you ever tossed a coin or two into a fountain and made a wish? Did it come true?

Have I ever seen a fountain? Oh yeah, that one time at that garden – I remember. Actually, fountains are pretty rare on this side of the world and the ones that do exist are more or less gifts from our ancestors previous rulers, like the famous Mughal gardens. Oh, the architecture, the planning, the beauty!! Well in short everything about them is stupendous.

Everyone knows the Taj mahal, but the garden adjacent  to it kind of gets over shadowed by the gigantic yet mesmerizing marble structure – it literally shadows the entire garden. Anyhow, these Mughal style gardens that are based on Persian architecture are scattered all over the northern regions (not so sure about the southern) and are definitely a thing of beauty during the sprig season.

Some of these (or may be even all of these) gardens are under special care and supervision. They are opened on a particular season for the common people to hang around and it is the only opportunity for them to take in the captivating beauty of nature’s creation coupled with an artisans vision. And that is where once, in year long time can, can a person see a fountain – worth seeing that is.

This brings me to the answer of the prompt – no I have not littered a fountain with coins. Fountains are not common here, let alone people throwing money in them. And when something like this beautiful comes under the protection of the state, well you do not dare to breathe near the fountain – forget about throwing stuff at it. You get the idea.

Although, I love the sentiment behind wishing upon a fountain. It just proves that hope goes long way in shaping our perspective. If you have thrown a coin in a fountain and wished upon it, like everybody else, and believed that you would receive your miracle, time would be the only thing between you and your wish coming true. Never stop believing!!

Now, of many pictures that somehow got deleted, one is left. Here is a fountain at a Mughal garden.
